CHADBOURN, N.C. – A Chadbourn police sergeant is appealing to city council after he was fired after posting videos to a social media application.

The News Reporter of Whiteville, N.C. reports Sgt. Brian Campell was fired in October after he and another officer posted videos of themselves in uniform using racially charged language to Vine, a video-sharing application.

The paper reports some of the videos were taken while the men were on duty in various areas around Chadbourn.

Campbell's firing was upheld in a grievance hearing Nov. 11 and his appeal will be heard by council Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.
