BRUNSWICK COUNTY -- A new mobile app will put New Hanover County and Brunswick County inmate information at everyone's fingertips.

Together the two sheriff departments have joined Vine mobile's "mobile patrol" application.

The app allows people to submit crime tips, sends out alerts and it can let a victim know when an inmate is released from prison.

Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram says it will help law enforcement stay ahead of the game.

"It's the time that we live in. It's fast paced. If we don't keep up with technology, then we are certainly not going to be able to keep up with the criminal element and be effective," said Sheriff Ingram, Brunswick County.

The application is free to download and works on both iPhones and Android smartphones.
