Crews are working to repair a gas line that ruptured in Bladen County on Saturday night, causing what neighbors describe as an explosion.

Bladen County emergency officials said a six-inch gas line broke in a wooded area near council just before 3:00 a.m.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion and rumbling. No injuries or fires were reported.

The county said the leak has been reduced to a point where crews can work on it, but it could be several hours before it's completely capped.

People living in the area may notice an odor, but officials said that should go away with the weather. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
