VANCEBORO, N.C. —The investigation continues into a fatal shooting in Craven County that happened earlier this week.

The Sheriff's Office said one person died and another man is in the hospital after a shooting in Vanceboro Tuesday night. It happened near Dawson Lane just after 6 p.m.. Investigators said they found Arvey Bartlett Jr., 19, dead off Maul Swamp Road.

Angelo Whitehurst, 20, was found just a few blocks away with a gunshot wound. He is listed in serious condition at Pitt Memorial Hospital. Sheriff's officials said Whitehurst also has pending charges in Craven County for conspiracy to sell or deliver cocaine and carrying a concealed weapon.
