BELMONT, N.C. -- As anticipation grows for the thousands of fans getting ready to see the Jonas Brothers perform in Charlotte on Tuesday, some of their biggest supporters who hail from Gaston County are planning to be in attendance.
The musical group, which features brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick, has a number of family members who live in Belmont.
"I think they're cool and amazing," said Grace Auten, 8, the brothers' cousin.
Cecilia Lucas, the boys' grandmother, said they try to visit their Gaston County relatives every time they perform nearby.
"My house is turning into a museum," she said. "I actually have little girls coming over all the time to see all the stuff."
"They deserve every bit of success that they have," said Joy Auten, the boys' aunt, adding they try to go to any concert within driving distance. "We think it's funny to see all the girls crying when they get near them and screaming and trying to touch them when they're on the stage."
The group's success is no laughing matter. As the band gets ready to release its second studio album, their faces are on newsstands across the country, gracing the covers of Rolling Stone and Forbes magazines.
"Their success didn't come overnight. A lot of people think that it did if they haven't been following them from the beginning, but they've really worked hard," Joy Auten said.
The Jonas Brothers will perform Tuesday at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte. Wednesday, they'll be at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek in Raleigh. Both concerts start at 7 p.m.
